Structure of Benzeneoxide

The simplest arene oxide is shown. An arene oxide is formed when one of the double bonds of an aromatic system undergoes epoxidation. The formation of arene oxides is a critical step in the activation of benzo[a]pyrene, an aromatic hydrocarbon found in tobacco smoke. (Here coughs an ex-smoker).
