Structure of Methanethiol

Thiols are the sulfur analogs of alcohol. Methanethiol is the sulfur analog of methanol. Note the H-S-C angle of 96.8 degrees. This angle is noticably less than the H-O-C angle in methanol. This is typical for S-compounds; bonds to S have more p-character.
