Structure of N-Methyl Formamide

N-Substitution of Amides. Part 2: N-Methyl Formamide, HCONHCH3.
Primary, secondary and tertiary amides carry 2, 1 or 0 H-atoms on the amide N-atom. Hence the IR spectra will contain 2, 1 or 0 peaks in the region of the NH-stretching vibrations. The molecules HCONH2, HCONHCH3 and HCON(CH3)2 nicely exemplify the effects of N-substitution. Look for their CO stretching frequencies in the output files behind the links "Freqs".
