Structure of Methoxy Methyl Cation

Ether, Radical Cation and Its Decomposition. Part 3: The structure of methoxy methyl cation.
The propyl methyl ether radical cation stabilizes itself by loss of ethyl radical via "beta cleavage". The resulting cation is stabilized since the oxygen atom can donate electron density to the formally cationic center.
