Structure of Propene Radical Cation

Propane, Propene and Their Radical Cations. Part 4: The structure of propene radical cation.
This radical cation can be formed from propene via ionization of one of the pi-electrons. The result is a significantly longer -HC-CH2 bond of 141.8 pm since the the pi-bond strength is reduced. The C-C single bond is 145.1 pm long. The propene radical cation can also be formed from the propane radical cation by loss of two H-atoms as radicals.
