Structure of Tetramethylsilane (TMS)

The structure of tetramethylsilane, TMS. TMS is the "standard" for the chemical shift assignment in H-NMR. TMS gives a strong signal (12 hydrogens), the signal is a singlet (all 12 Hs are chemically and magnetically equivalent), and the H is strongly shielded so that its signal does not interfer with the regions normally of interest.
