Structure of Benzene

Benzene is "the mother" of all aromatic compounds. The molecule is cyclic, planar, and fully conjugated. Each C atom is sp2 hybridized. There are 6 pi-electrons; hence benzene is aromatic according to the (4N+2) Hueckel rule with N=1.
