Aluminate

Lithium aluminium hydride, LiAlH4, and sodium borohydride, LiBH4, are very important reducing reagents. These salts contains the anions AlH4- and BH4- which serve as "hydride donors". Both ions are tetrahedral and the structure of the aluminate ion is shown.
