The editorial comments made the article more interesting. The writing was
excellent. The comments made us want to read the entire article.

9 Points (0-10)
We felt that the artlice was very relevent to organic chemistry.
(5) Selection and Quality

(1) Topic Selection: 20 Points (0-20)
Methamphetamines can affect everyone, so it definitely applied to a broad
segment of the audience. Methamphetamines have a strong relation
to organic chemistry in structure and composition.
(2) Newspaper and Article
Selection: 8 Points (0-10)
The Department of Justice should be qualified to write on the topic of
drugs, however the article wasn't published within the last year.
(3) Quality of the Editorial
The Editorial Comments appear to be well written, and they further clarified
the article's main point. They were the appropriate length.
(4) Organic Chemistry Content:
8 Points (0-10)
The chemical issue was clear, but there wasn't enough background information
to help with understanding the chemistry. They could have included
more links to the over-the-counter products that were mentioned in the
article.
(5) Selection and Quality
of the Links: 18 Points (0-20)
The links provided good information, but some of them strayed from the
main point of the article
(6) Format, Number and Types
of Questions: 7 Points (0-10)
The questions vary and the last one is a PSP question, but there are only
four questions instead of five.
(7) Quality of the Questions:
8 Points (0-10)
The questions are good. Three out of the four address central
issues, but one is a little far-fetched.
(8) Overall Impression. 9
Points (0-10)
We think that after a few minor adjustments, this could be a useful assignment.
Overall, the news article was good. We were impressed with the visual
aids that accompanied the links.

(1) Topic Selection: 20 Points (0-20)
The topic is interesting and would appeal to a wide variety of audiences.
(2) Newspaper and Article
Selection: 9 Points (0-10)
It was not an actual newspaper article. The article was published
by the DEA, which is a reliable source of information.
(3) Quality of the Editorial
The editorial is great. It helps to explain the content. It
is correct in grammar and in style.
(4) Organic Chemistry Content:
9 Points (0-10)
A link to chemfinder would've been helpful to show the actual chemical
makeup of meth other drugs/
(5) Selection and Quality
of the Links: 19 Points (0-20)
One of the links seemed like it might not be that permanent. Chemfinder
would've been helpful.
(6) Format, Number and Types
of Questions: 9 Points (0-10)
The problem contained only four questions.
(7) Quality of the Questions:
10 Points (0-10)
The questions were well written and easy to understand.
(8) Overall Impression. 9
Points (0-10)
With a few minor adjustments, the problem would be great for Prentice Hall.
Evaluation by Group 29
(1) Topic Selection: 19 Points (0-20)

to this area.
(2) Newspaper and Article
Selection: 9 Points (0-10)

(3) Quality of the Editorial
Somewhat repetative, but imformative.
(4) Organic Chemistry Content:

Organic content is very clear and pertinent, especially to Mid-Missouri.
Good use of reference to Wade.
(5) Selection and Quality
of the Links: 19 Points (0-20)
Quality links with high relavance to subject matter.

some slight revision. Overall great subject of much importance.
Evaluation by Group 30
(1) Topic Selection: 20 Points (0-20)
The topic is both very relevant and current. Drug use and abuse issues
greatly affect young people today. It is a good way to tie what we
learn in Organic Chemistry in with what we deal with in our everyday existance.
(2) Newspaper and Article
Selection: 8 Points (0-10)
The article was of appropriate length and the source and author were were
credible. We took off points for the article being outdated by more
than a year.
(3) Quality of the Editorial
Some of the paragraphs were too short and lacking in adaquate discussion
of the topic. They need to ellaborate on the organic chemistry content
of the news article and not just list the facts. Most of the comments
did help to clarify the article and their facts were good.
(4) Organic Chemistry Content:
9 Points (0-10)
We would have liked to see links to the molecular structure of the compounds
they mentioned to provide more insight into the chemistry background of
the topic. The seemed knowledgible of their topic.
(5) Selection and Quality
of the Links: 17 Points (0-20)
The last link, Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, was misleading.
We were not sure of the purpose or relevance of the link from the way it
was imbedded. As stated earlier we missed seeing links to pertinent
molecular structures.
(6) Format, Number and Types
of Questions: 8 Points (0-10)
We took off points for there only being four questions and not the required
number. Otherwise the questions seemed generally well thought out
and pertinent.
(7) Quality of the Questions:
8 Points (0-10)
The firsxt question doesn't seem to be entirely relevant to the article
and editorial comments. It would have been difficult to answer in
a reasonable amount of time just from the links and articles provided.
(8) Overall Impression. 8
Points (0-10)
With a few minor revisions to grammar and more indepth discussion of the
topic this would be a very good news item to use in class.
Their total is 86/100.
Good job!

The links were more recent than the article itself. They all basically
mentioned the same things.
(6) Format, Number and Types

You did not have the recommended number of questions.
(7) Quality of the Questions:
9 Points (0-10)
You had a good variety of questions, and they were all answerable.

Points (0-10)
Other than the date of the article, with a few minor adjustments, this
would be fit for publication by Prentice Hall
